Some notes: If you have comments suggestions or changes please drop me a note. You can make reservations on line for hotels with links. For the others you will have to find your own way.
I have tried to make comment on nearby eating options for each hotel/motel, because sometimes you don't want to drive. However, it is usually easy to park anywhere you go in Red Wing. In historic downtown there are two free ramps if you can't find parking on the Street. Studebaker ramp is at the corner of East Avenue and Main Street. A block away by the Saint James Hotel, River Front Centre Has a ramp as well.
For the moment I won't try to mention downtown eating spots because there are many different options.
This link will open a new window, places to eat in Red Wing, with a complete list of eating options in the Red Wing Area.
Days Inn is on the outskirts of town near Covill Park Marina, Covill Water Park and Mississippi Golf Links as you leave(or enter)town to the south on Highway 61 .
The Saint James Hotel is in the Historic old downtown area just a block from the Mississippi River and the train station, Red Wing Marina is a little further, but many boating people walk the distance into downtown. Red Wing is small so almost everything is just a few blocks walk.
Other Motels are clustered in the Pottery District:
Americinn and Nichols Inn are in the center of the Pottery District which puts them just a little nearer the upper boat harbor and the small boat harbor. Eating Options that are fairly close(Walking Distance)would include Godfather's Pizza in Pottery Place, the Bierstube, next to Pottery Place and Perkins. Smokey Row Bakery & Café is across the street from Pottery Place. Golden China, Fiesta Mexicana and McDonalds can be found just a little further West on North Service Drive. There are various antique shops in the Pottery District, most notably Pottery Place Mall has a lot of square footage with many antique dealers doing business there.
The Rodeway Inn and the Super 8 Hotel and Best Western Hotel are located very near the trail head of the Cannon Valley Bike Trails. Rodeway and Super 8 are right next to the Bierstub restaurant while the Best Western shares a parking lot with Perkins. 'The Route' bike shop is in the same building as Smokey Row. You can rent bikes there.
The Parkway Motel is farther west on Highway 61. It is close to Econo Foods, Target and Wallmart and further away from historic downtown. TJ's which is attached to the Oasis Market is one nearby eating option. There is an Applebee's and a movie theatre nearby as well.
Treasure Island is removed from downtown Red Wing, but it is somewhat self contained with the casino, dining and entertainment.
